Tennis

Paddy Condon Cup:
Next competition up on our calendar is The Condon Cup, played in honour of our recently deceased friend Mr Paddy Condon will be hosted in the Club on Friday night 20th May 2011.  Entries can be written on the entry sheet provided on the notice board in the club hallway or via Declan/ Phil (086 3288850/0863611270) or any committee member. This historic cup has always been a great competition for all club members and you are asked to get your entry in early to assist in administration.

Tennis Senior Open Week:
The clubs Open week is scheduled for the week of June 11th to June 18th. Closing date is June 2nd. See notice board for details. This is the highlight of the season falling just before mid-summer. It’s all go, with the committee completing its plans to make this an enjoyable week for all the participants from our own club and all the neighbouring clubs in Tipperary and Waterford. There is a competition for everyone from grade 1 to 6 in singles, doubles or mixed. Get your partner and get your names in- Declan & Phil are looking forward to seeing you all in June. Limerick Lawn Vets:
The club had a number of playing stars in the winning enclosure over last week-end when Michael Murray and Trudy Kennedy came out winners in their respective doubles and mixed while Martin Ormond came flying through in the mens over 45 singles event. Well done to all.
 
Castleview Inter Firms:
Castleview Interfirms starts on Monday 16th May 2011, with the closing date of Monday 9th.  Good luck to all participants.

Munster Summer Cups:
Entries are been urgently sought for the Hillview teams to enter this year’s summer cups. This is a great competition and your opportunity to represent your club in the wider club scene around Munster and to gain valuable playing experience and make new friends.

Junior Tennis:
Easter Open American:
We had a very good junior American open on Friday last.  There were 22 participants and brilliant weather to make a great day for all. Winners of the two sections were Oisin Crowe with Conor Lynch and Pascal Morrissey with Dara Lynch. Many thanks to those who helped out on the day and a special thank you to Cillian Crowe...

Club Lotto & Bingo

On Saturday 7th May 2011 the Hillview Lotto was worth €2,100.  The numbers drawn were 2-11-12-17 and there was No Winner and there were 4 people with 3 numbers each receive €30.00.
Next weeks Lotto will take place on Saturday 14th May.  The Jackpot will be worth €2,200.  Tickets are €1 each and can be bought from ticket sellers and at the Club Bar.  Buy-ins are also now due, €45.00 for 1 year.  If you’re not in you can’t win.

The club bingo takes place every Monday in St. Mary’s Hall in Irishtown, Clonmel.  The Jackpot is starting again at €1,000 in 43 calls.  The books are not expensive and the prizes are good.  Come along and enjoy the evening.

Pitch and Putt

Captains Prizes 2011:
On Sunday 15th May the Hillview Pitch and Putt Captains prizes will take place.  Play in the Captains prizes will start at 10.00a.m. with the last card to be played at 2.30p.m…  The 18 Hole playoff will be at 6.00p.m.  Entry fee will €8.00 per-person.  This competition is also in the hole in one and player of the competitions.  Presentation of prizes will take place at 9.30p.m. on the night in the club house.  The presentation of prizes for the following competitions will also take place on the night, St Patrick’s & Easter Ongoing competitions, the John Kennedy Motors Spring League, the Club Free Memberships.  Come along and Support the Captain Noel Joyce.

O’Sullivan Insurance Scratch Cup:
The above sponsored Hillview Scratch Cup will take place on Sunday 29th May 2011.  Play will start at 8.30a.m., with the last card at 2.30p.m… The playoff will be at 6.30p.m. approx.  The Entry fee will be €10.00 per-person playing.  The prizes on the day will be Winner, Runner-up, Third, Fourth, Inter Gross, Inter Runner-up, Junior Gross, Ladies Gross and Last 18 Gross.

Easter Competition:
The above Easter competition will finish on Friday 13th May 2011.  This is your last chance to play in this competition.  It is a very good way to practice.  The entry fee is €2.00 per-card.  Play as many cards as you like with your best 2 cards to count.  Prizes will depend on the amount of players playing and cards played.

Gents Smithwick’s & Ladies Bulmer’s Light Cups:
To all players please check who you are playing and arrange to play your match before the following dates, Gent’s 1st round Monday 23rd May and Ladies 1st round Monday 30th May 2011.  The draws are on the kiosk window and the notice board in the club hallway.  Please pay your entry fee before you play.  The semi-finals are to be played before Monday 20th June with the finals on Friday 24th June at 7.15p.m…

This Scratch Cup will take place on Saturday 14th May 2011.  The entry fee is €10.00 per-person.  The start time is 8.00a.m. and the last card will be at 2.30p.m…
Clare Co. Board Scratch Cups:
The above county board scratch cups will take place on Sunday 15th May 2011.  The Venue will be Cill Na Mona Pitch and Putt Club.  The entry fee will be €10.00 per-person.  First card will be at 9.00a.m. and the last card will be at 12.00 noon.

Munster and National Strokeplay’s:
To all club players please note that the entry forms for the Ladies and Gent’s Munster and National Strokeplays are now on the notice board in the Pitch and Putt Kiosk.  The closing date for entries will be Wednesday 25th May 2011.  Any person interested please write your name on the sheet provided.

Scratch Cup & other Results:
Johnny Shoer Co. Board Scratch Cup:
On Monday 25th April the Johnny Shoer County Board Scratch Cup took place in Hillview.  There was a very good turnout of players from all parts of Ireland.  Three of our senior players made the playoff.  After the 1st 36 holes Stephen O’Reilly (Hillview) was leading by 1 shot from Paul O’Brien (Lakeside) with James Cleary, Eddie Hennessy, David White and many others from various clubs within 2 shots.  With both the leaders playing well and the players behind also playing so well any mistake could prove costly.  The results are as follows: Johnny Shoer Winner was Paul O’Brien (Lakeside) with 22 under, Runner was Stephen O’Reilly (Hillview) with 21 under, Third was Jason O’Regan (Tralee) with 20 under.  The last 18 went to Shane Hoare with 7 under.  Ladies 36 Gross went to Breda Lonergan (Tipp-Hills) with 2 under.  Gents Inter Gross went to Davy Hallinan (Hillview) with 9 under and the Gents Junior 36 Gross went to Sean Ryan (Castleisland) with 9 under.  Congratulations to everyone.
St Bridget’s Scratch Cup:
On Sunday 1st May many of our players travelled to St. Bridget’s, Kildare to play in their scratch cup.  Once again our players played well.  Tom Blanche won the Inter Gross.  James Cleary continued his good Scratch run this year when he finished 3rd.  well done to both players.
Lakeside Scratch Cup:
On Monday 2nd May the Lakeside Scratch Cup took place in Templemore.  Only 5 of our players travelled on the day.  Once again James Cleary showed that he is the man in form.  James won the Lakeside Scratch Cup with a score of 17 under for the 3 rounds.  This was a fantastic score in the dreadful conditions.
Larkspur Park Masters:
On Saturday 7th May the larkspur park masters took place.  Hillview had 2 players in the playoff; they were Stephen O’Reilly and James Cleary.  Stephen playing some great pitch and putt finished 3rd.  Another good result.  Well done Stephen.
St. Stephens Scratch Cup:
Once again James Cleary made the final 18 hole playoff, this time he was joined by David White.  No luck for either player.

National Matchplay Qualifiers:
From the 3rd to the 6th May last the National Matchplay Qualifiers for South Tipperary were held in Hillview.  There were some very close games as should be for a national competition.  The players who qualified are as follows: Eddie Hennessy (Ashgrove), John Fitzgerald (Hillview) and James Cleary (Hillview).  Congratulations and the best of luck in the Finals.

Youth Coaching:
The above coaching will be done by Stephen Enneguess and Kathleen Shanley and will take place in Hillview on Monday 9th 2011 between 1.00p.m. and 2.00p.m.  The school that will be taking part will be the sister of charity.  Any club member who would like to lend a hand can do so.

Tipperary County Strokeplay:
The above county board championship will take place on Sunday 22nd May in Larkspur Park, Cashel.  The entry fee will be €10.00 per-person.  The start time will be 9.30a.m., with last card at 2.00p.m.  All county registered players are eligible to play.  Gents Senior, Gents Inter and Gents Junior Championships plus the Ladies Senior, Ladies Inter and Ladies Junior Championships are all up for grabs.  Come along and play, you never know what might happen.
